In medical lingo, bedsores are referred to as pressure ulcers.
They are the wounds that have developed due to the constant pressure in the body, particularly in the bony and cartilage areas.
Bedsores are highly treatable, though they can be life threatening if not treated early on. Doctors classify bedsores according to the lesions they create.
  • Stage I bedsores are characterized by redness on the part where pressure is always applied. The redness also subsides easily the moment the pressure is relieved.
  • Stage II bedsores damage the epidermis. At this stage, the ulcers are called abrasions or blisters.
  • Stage III bedsore is the condition wherein the skin and its subcutaneous tissue layer is already affected.
  • Stage IV is the most severe case of bedsore. It affects the deepest tissues and the abrasions have already extended to the muscles, the tendons, and the bones.
There are certain herbs for bedsores and they can be are easily found or bought over-the-counter. You can try some of these herbal remedies to prevent bedsores from getting worse.

  • Treat Bedsores with Myrrh: Myrrh has a lot of therapeutic properties. It is an anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and fungicidal agent. Myrrh can be used to treat Stage IV bedsores.
    Just mix 1 part myrrh shrub resin to 5 parts 90 percent alcohol. Wipe the solution to the affected areas. This is also a good antiseptic and astringent.
  • Aloe Vera Treatment: Aloe Vera has proven itself to be an effective herb for treating wounds, lesions, and abrasions.
    Put Aloe Vera gel onto affected areas and dress it with a piece of gauze or bandage. Do this daily for 10 days for maximum results.
  • Herbal Treatment with Comfrey: Comfrey is a known herb that has a lot of therapeutic properties. It helps treat wounds and bedsores. Comfrey is currently available as an herbal tea or as an infusion.
  • Natural Med with Golden Seal: Golden Seal is a well renowned herbal medicine that has been used for over a century now. It is very effective in treating bedsores, inflammations, and skin diseases. Goldenseal is available in lotion, ointment, tincture, liquid extract, and oil forms. It can be used internally or externally.
