Herbal Remedies for Gout

Gout is a very painful disease that resembles arthritis. It is caused by excess uric acid in the body, which crystallizes and forms in the joints and tissues.
When crystallized uric acid deposits form in the joints, the white blood cells would surround them. This would now lead to pain, redness, and inflammation in the area.

There are commercial drugs available for gout. However, a lot of people are switching to herbal remedies because they are very effective. The herbs you can use for gout are as follows:

  • Parsley for Gout: Parsley is a very effective herb for gout. It doesn't only put spice in the foods you eat but it can also act as a natural diuretic. As such, it can help flush out uric acid from the body, allowing it to function as usual without fear of accumulating in the joints.
  • Gout and Red clover: Red clover has long been used to treat gout. In fact, traditional medicine often mentions it as an effective treatment for several other diseases like psoriasis, hot flashes, and eczema. Red clover can effectively remove the toxins of the body, including excess uric acid. However, it may thin the blood so doctors need to be involved when taking this as an herbal medicine for gout.
  • Spearmint as Gout Remedy: Spearmint is a popular herb because of its cooling properties. This is exactly the reason why it is used to treat gout too.
Gout is characterized by inflammation. To ease the pain and swelling caused by gout with spearmint, create a poultice out of its leaves. Wrap it around the affected areas.
  • Yarrow Treatment: Yarrow is another popular herb for gout.
Its cleansing properties help a lot in relieving the pain and symptoms associated with the disease. To use it, bring into boil equal parts of stinging nettles and yarrow. Make it into a tea. Strain and cool. Drink two to three cups daily for best effect.
  • Ginger for Gout: Ginger is a very popular herb. It can be used for gout too. Just make a ginger bath and soak in it for 30-40 minutes. This would induce sweating, which helps your body get rid of excess uric acid. Rinse off thoroughly as ginger bath may cause skin irritations.
